I'm currently studying for the CPA Exam, and I want to the ISC as my discipline. I was originally planning on taking AUD then ISC, but I was wondering if anyone has taken ISC before AUD and what are your thoughts on doing it that way?

    Hi Samir!

Great question and kudos to you for planning your CPA strategy thoughtfully. While I have not taken the CPA exam, I found some information that suggests you take AUD before ISC, so you have a strong foundation before moving into the more specialized ISC section. (Source: Article from Becker

I hope this helps! I'd love to hear experience and any thoughts form others!

Samir, we've had a couple of auditors in our office take and pass the ISC section first. If you're handling a lot of internal control documentation in your daily work, you might have already developed a lot of the foundation from your practical experience to get through the review.  To decide, be honest with yourself about your level of understanding in that area. Are you largely following along what someone did last year, or have you gotten to a level where you understand the concepts and are helping to design the internal control tests related to the accounting system? If you've reached the latter stage, you might be ok taking ISC first.

    Good luck!
